Why We Built This Site
Michigan gives the public broad access to court records, though the judiciary sets its own rules under MCR 8.119 rather than the state open-records law. The hard part is figuring out which office holds the file you want. The Shiawassee County Clerk maintains 35th Circuit Court files and vital records. The 66th District Court keeps its own counter for misdemeanors, traffic, and civil cases. The Probate Court handles estates, wills, and guardianships. The Sheriff manages the jail and law-enforcement records. Add the Michigan State Police, the Department of Corrections, and the Secretary of State, and the picture gets crowded fast. We pull together the contact details, search portals, fee schedules, and request steps for each of these offices into one place.
